Cecocesola

Cecosesola was created in Barquisimeto, capital of the state of Lara, in west-central Venezuela, as a cooperative integration organization on December 17, 1967. It is a meeting space where people meet more than 50 community organizations, integrated into a network of production of goods and services which brings together more than 23,000 associates from popular sectors.

Through this network we develop a wide variety of activities such as: agricultural production, small-scale agro-industrial production, funeral services, health services, savings and loans, relief funds mutual assistance and food distribution. We are more than 1,300 associated workers who manage daily activities through open participation, without hierarchy.

Our purpose is a transformative educational process based on equity, mutual support and accountability. We build agreements and consensual decisions, which gives us the freedom to make decisions, while making us responsible for their consequences. Any decision is subject to reconsideration, as long as it does not comply with our collective criteria.

Through conversations and ongoing reflection on our daily behavior, we deepen ethical relationships, the emergence of trusting relationships, and the widening of the circle of us into an increasingly extended family.

Thus, our educational process encompasses everything we do: our economic activities, our celebrations and family gatherings, our informal conversations, our meetings and the way we organize ourselves.
